Questions people ask

Do US citizens need a visa for Thailand?

Not for a tourist stay of up to 30 days. The USA is on the official 30-day visa-free list that took effect on September 15, 2026. You may be asked to show 20,000 baht in cash. For longer stays or for work, you need a visa from a Thai embassy or consulate.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card?

It is an online form every foreign visitor fills in before arriving, including visa-free travelers. It is free, and the only official site is tdac.immigration.go.th. Submit it within 3 days before you arrive. It is not a visa, so you still need the right entry permission.

Can I extend a visa-free stay in Thailand?

You can ask for up to 30 more days at an immigration office. Whether you get it is up to the immigration officer. We could not confirm the extension fee on an official page, so check the current fee with Thai immigration before you go.

How we check facts

We use Thai embassy, consulate and foreign ministry pages for visa rules, and each page shows the date we checked it. When an official page doesn't answer a question, we say so instead of guessing. Provider facts come from the provider's own pages and are dated too.
